Gyros

Hey friends, what do you do when your whole family is starving, and no one can agree on dinner? Well, I’ve got some tips that’s healthy pretty cheap and is a crowd favorite. In my family it’s normally some kind of potatoes chicken and cornbread, or tacos. They’ll legit eat their body weight in tacos, and everyone has a different way to build theirs. My mom loves taco night because she says that’s the only time we all sit at the table together. Basically the tacos are to messy to eat them on the couch or in bed, and how on earth are you going to have more than one if you’re extra hungry.

Which takes me back to my days at Mercato, every Sunday my old roomie Hannie would get off work and head home and have everyone over for drinks and tacos or some sort of Mexican food. I called it Salsa Sunday since it rhymed. I was trying out recipes for a food truck I’m still saving for. This isn’t an add but if someone wants to buy me a food truck that would give you free food for life!

In my experience every cuisine has some version of tacos; Greeks have gyros, Israeli’s have felafel, and Koreans have chopchi. In my house we try to make different cuisines food at least once a week. This week we had gyros. I decided to put a different spin on it so I used grilled skirt steak and rotisserie chicken. If you’re not using the traditional gyro meat you should season the meat with turmeric, nutmeg, oregano, seasoning salt, red onion, and garlic.   I made tzatziki sauce with a cucumber, garlic, lemon juice, Greek yogurt, and dill. Traditionally served on pita bread with romaine lettuce red onions feta cheese and tomatoes but you can eat them with any toppings you want to.

Thanks for reading this week’s blog. As always if you have any questions, comments or concerns please leave a comment below or send me an email. Be blessed!!!!
