I'm feeling a bit somber this week, so Alex has been the cook this week. He had a few questions throughout the week, so I answered them. I was thinking if he has those questions then maybe yall do too.
Early June every year since my 1st marriage seems to put me in a funk. In 2009 I got married to the wrong person. While it was probably the hardest learning experience I've ever been through, there were some great times as well. This week of the year seems to be the most reflective for me.
As I said Alex made dinner this week, he made chop chey, stuffed chicken, bacon sushi roll (that's what he calls it), and pork chops. Now the chop chey is a family recipe for him so I don't ask questions or add to it. He's Korean and apparently, it's unlucky/something they don't do is pass recipes to people not born in the family. The next night he wanted some stuffed chicken and I had to work so he asked his questions. Now he can do a lot of self-defense things with knives but cutting vegetables he leaves something to be desired. So, I showed how to cut the chicken length ways down the fattest part of the chicken. Don't cut all the way through so your stuffing will stay in the middle, once you do that lay it open put some Suran wrap over the top and use either the flat side of your blade or a tenderizer to flatten out the chicken and make it all even. Don't forget to season both sides, chicken is a bland, so it needs extra love. Now this bacon wrapped sushi a basically a free form meatloaf with cheddar bacon and BBQ sauce layers. This time he decided to add a few bacon pieces into the loaf itself and wondered why they didn't crisp up. I told him it's because they needed to be crispy or at least partly cooked so the rest of the cooking can happen inside the loaf. The pork chops I told him to just add one of the 30 min marinades from the store on it and grill them.
I'm hoping that sharing his questions this week will help yall in your search for different foods. As always if you have any questions, comments, or concerns; please reach out via email or comment below.
Be blessed!
